{"id":10399,"date":"2025-03-04T08:00:00","date_gmt":"2025-03-04T13:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/provimarcas.com\/?p=10399"},"modified":"2025-03-06T11:27:43","modified_gmt":"2025-03-06T16:27:43","slug":"uk-unions-call-for-action-to-protect-creative-industry-workers-as-ai-develops","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/provimarcas.com\/en\/uk-unions-call-for-action-to-protect-creative-industry-workers-as-ai-develops\/","title":{"rendered":"UK UNIONS CALL FOR ACTION TO PROTECT CREATIVE INDUSTRY WORKERS AS AI DEVELOPS."},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>\u201cAction is needed to protect workers in creative industries&nbsp;<\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/technology\/2025\/feb\/25\/why-are-creatives-fighting-uk-government-ai-proposals-on-copyright\"><em>amid huge changes in technology and artificial intelligence<\/em><\/a><em>, unions have urged.<\/em><em><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>The&nbsp;<\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/politics\/tuc\"><em>TUC<\/em><\/a><em>&nbsp;said there was an urgent need to put in place \u201cproper guardrails\u201d for workers ranging from artists, writers and journalists to teachers and academics.<\/em><em><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>The union organisation said&nbsp;<\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/technology\/2025\/feb\/25\/uk-ministers-planning-to-change-ai-plans-to-protect-creative-industries\"><em>government proposals for copyright and an AI framework<\/em><\/a><em>, which are under consultation, needed to go further to protect creative workers.<\/em><em><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>The TUC called for transparency of AI training data to ensure workers know whether their data or image are being used, an opt-in system to protect creative work from commercial data mining unless workers give their permission and consent, and for measures to ensure creative workers are paid fairly for their work when their creative work is used to train AI models.<\/em><em><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>The report also called for an independent regulator to oversee the integration of AI into society and work.<\/em><em><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>The transformative potential of AI was huge, but without adequate regulation, \u201crapacious tech bosses\u201d would be able to exploit creative workers and cash in on their work, the TUC warned.<\/em><em><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Its general secretary, Paul Nowak, said: \u201cAI has huge transformative potential \u2013 and if regulated properly, workers could benefit from the productivity gains created by this technology.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Information taken from The Guardian. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/technology\/2025\/mar\/03\/uk-unions-creative-industry-workers-artificial-intelligence-ai-copyright\">https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/technology\/2025\/mar\/03\/uk-unions-creative-industry-workers-artificial-intelligence-ai-copyright<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>\u201cAction is needed to protect workers in creative industries&nbsp;amid huge changes in technology and artificial intelligence, unions have urged.
