\u201cA Kentucky bourbon company named for Mary Dowling\u2014a pioneering late-19th century female distiller\u2014sued a Texas distiller for operating under a \u201cDowling Distilling\u201d trademark<\/em>.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mary Dowling Whiskey Co. said the trademark of Dowling Distilling Corp., incorporated in 2023, will likely confuse consumers in a Thursday complaint to the US District Court for the Eastern District of Texas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

MDWC has registered word trademarks \u201cDowling,\u201d \u201cMary Dowling,\u201d and \u201cDowling Brothers\u201d along with some Dowling Brothers logos\u2014all covering distilled spirits\u2014dating to 2019, when its registrations claim it first began using the branding.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
