A Utility Model Patent protects any new shape, configuration, or arrangement of elements in a device, tool, instrument, mechanism, or any other object or part thereof, which allows for better or different functioning, use, or manufacture of the object incorporating it, or provides some utility, advantage, or technical effect it did not have before

This type of patent is granted for 10 years, non-renewable, and once this period expires, it enters the public domain.

The registration is done with the industrial property office of each country and takes approximately 18 to 24 months.
